Lena's First Birthday

Happy birthday my sweet, sweet baby girl! Lena celebrated her first birthday with her very own butterfly birthday cake. My friend Beth (who is very talented with cakes) helped me make her cake since I know next to nothing about making cakes. We made a big one with fondant icing and a little one just for Lena. They were very tasty! So I thought I'd add some stats for Lena's first year of life. She weighs in at 19# 5oz, 30" tall. She first rolled over at 31/2 months, crawled at 61/2 months, took her first steps on Christmas eve at 111/2 months, and has yet to speak her first legitimate word! We're so proud!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! This winter has been abnormal for these parts. We are enduring the third major storm of the season when typically we see maybe just one winter storm- sometimes big, sometimes wimpy. We've been tucked in the house watching it snow most of the day today though not as much has stuck to the roads since the temperature was slightly above freezing. We are expecting more tomorrow! We've decided its time to give in and get ourselves some snow boots.

Our family

We have been meaning to get around to doing this for quite some time. Way, way too long that is. So here goes, our first blog post as a little family of four. I guess now is as good a time as any, I am learning that life doesn't really ever slow down like we think it will, after next month or the latest deadline passes. We are Justin, Sara, Avery and Lena. A happy little foursome.
